Bakhtiyari village weaving dates back to the 19th century. The intricacy of the pattern details are mesmerizing, with small rectangular compartments covering the whole center of the rug, each filled with stylized floral motifs. Often, these are combined with niche and tree of life motifs frequently found in prayer rugs. Karastan's Antique Legends Bakhtiyari pattern is a 21st century composition, with inspiration from their pattern #745 Bakhtiyari first introduced in 1984.
